Neon Knights, public Light Art Project

Clients: Havering Changing

Budget: Circa 5k

Stages: 1-7

Challenges: We were asked to create a representative piece of light-art, to be displayed at the first annual Illusionarium light festival in Havering, that would allow residents to get involved and learn about their locality in the process. | Status: Under the concept of ‘neon-knights’, we developed an events-based design workshop to create a series of Romford symbols that could be made into a neon light installation. For the workshop, we brought together a group of Havering residents for a day of fun and games at ‘The Light Café’ to develop artwork around Romford and what it means to them. They left us with good vibes and series of symbols that they felt represented their neighbourhood. We then translated artworks, from design to production, into a truly unique and representative neon artwork for display outside Romford Station for the duration of the festival.
